Danny is a professional full time caricaturist / cartoonist. He has produced social / political cartoons for the Evening Echo, and then went on to become the political cartoonist for the Sunday People. He has also produced, for teaching arts, a range of videos on how to draw cartoonist / caricatures.
Danny uses an A4 pad if booked to do 'table to table walk about' during a sitting down part of a function, or uses an A3 pad on an easel sitting in a static location if booked for the part of an evening where your guests are moving around. Each picture takes Danny between 4 - 6 minutes, an average of 5 minutes per picture.
Danny now specialises in producing quick on-the-spot caricatures. This type of caricaturing has become extremely popular in the entertainment / corporate industry, each caricature is a personalised memento of the customer's day out. He can also do an amazing after dinner talk, where he demonstrates how to draw cartoons and on team building occasions has involved the guests to create their own cartoon style.
As well as producing caricatures on blank sheets of paper, Danny can also present them in two other forms.
1.) Caricatures can be drawn straight into a presentation book for the customer to take away at the end of their function. Ideal for Weddings.
2.) Photographs of your guests can be taken by Danny on the day of the event taking no more than 30 to 45 minutes. These photos can then be made into a presentation book or one large group caricature picture by Danny in his own time. This method provides a better quality end result as Danny can spend more time on each caricature (with out them moving!) because it's not done live or rushed.
Danny specialises in colour work and has had produced artworks for Waddington's Jigsaws, Evershed's calendars, limited edition prints and numerous greeting cards, Christmas cards being his speciality. In 1990/91, three of his cards were used as Princess Diana's Charity Christmas Cards.
He has produced many company Christmas cards in which he incorporates the company identity, such companies as Securicor, RAC and Condor Ferries.
Danny draws caricatures at many company corporate events, clients such as Midland Bank, Kuretake, Esselte. He was, for a year, social cartoonist for the Sunday People.
Danny's videos, The Art of Cartooning, Drawing Animals, Dinosaurs and Monsters, Caricaturing, are all available at most art shops.
Danny's best-selling paperbacks, Danny Gets to Grips with., are sold worldwide and have been translated into many languages.
Danny's Biog:
Danny first had his worked published at the age of 15. After leaving school at 17, he worked in advertising for a number of years in London. Any work in the form of cartoon or illustration involving humour would automatically be allocated to Danny.
This became so popular the other agency, wanting cartoon work started to brief Danny direct. When the workload became more than he could stuff into his car, he decided to take cartooning up full time. In 1980 he set up a studio in Ealing West of London. Over the next 10 years Danny worked for an array of different agencies in and around London. He was commissioned to produce ideas and designs for the greeting card market. A range of cartoon limited prints soon followed.
In 1988 he was asked to work for the Sunday newspaper, The People, as their political/social cartoonist. With the invention of the fax and the ever-improving home computer, Danny soon realised that he could work from just about anywhere. So armed with a bucket and spade in one hand and a pencil in the other, off to the sea side town of Bournemouth. He continued to produce a weekly cartoon for the paper The People, also produced a cartoon for the local weekly paper the Echo.

Event Night at Botley Park Hotel & Country Club
Danny was first class and sketched at an impressive pace to ensure he got to every table in the allotted time, he took time to talk to the guests and produced hilarious results.

Wedding Reception at The Elvetham
Just a note to thank you so very much for organising such 1st class entertainment for our wedding day at The Elvetham.
The jazz, John Mills Quartet, were quite superb - not intrusive but with a lovely choice of music - it was fantastic.
Danny Byrne was an inspiration with his caricatures - he was so very flexible, moving in to the meal venue to continue drawing while we ate - great!
And finally yourself, Delta Disco - a tremendous disco. You held our favourites until Denise & I were there - a great touch.
