Goldrush are an energetic Southampton-based 8 piece band, performing various disco and funk classics. Stemming from diverse and experienced musical backgrounds, the members of Goldrush bring about their own unique feel to favourite disco and funk hits.

Having performed at many large venues in the southern region, including St Mary’s Stadium, Portsmouth and Winchester Guildhalls, they are now establishing a reputation as one of Southampton’s favourite and finest bands. Ideal for any function, Goldrush are a professional and fun outfit, using top of the range sound and lighting equipment. They are guaranteed to add a spark to your event and get your feet moving.

About the Goldrush members (in their own words):

Vicki – Lead vocals

Vicki is the newest addition to the Goldrush dynasty. After Teresa was extradited to start a new penal colony in Canada, the band has been frantically searching for a new star.

During extensive auditions, the band saw the likes of Tom Cruise Kirstine Dunst and (fairly surreally) Trevor McDonald. Then Pete tuned the TV off and returned our attention to the matter in hand.

Vicki was hand picked from a long list of hopefuls and we welcome her to the band with open arms…and empty mugs…get to it girl!

Seriously though, she can’t half belt out a tune or two.

Eddie – Guitar

We welcome Eddie back into the Goldrush fold after a brief spell “inside”. Now venturing back in to the real world, and with a newly grown wrist Eddie is ready to unleash his particular brand of guitar madness on an unsuspecting public.

Fans of Eddie will be pleased to see him returning to the Goldrush ranks, and for those who haven’t yet had the pleasure, look out for some reverse riffs and lefty licks!

Adam – Bass

Adam was genetically engineered and grown in a tank by Teresa following a critical shortage of Bass players in the Goldrush line up. Now, answering only to Teresa’s voice, he prowls the underworld of Southampton trying to find the perfect bass line, only stopping to pick up Teresa’s dry-cleaning on the way. A funktastical string slapper.

James – Keyboards

Another recent addition to the band’s line-up, James is a first class pianist and keyboard player. At only 7 years of age he is the youngest member of the band to date. Oh – actually, apparently he’s in the third year of a doctorate – he just looks young.

A fine ivory tickler through and through…

Reuben – trumpet

AKA the LobsterFunkDaddy. Reuben’s high energy brass style has been influenced by not only the jazz and be-pop trumpet masters, but also brass rich bands like Brooklyn Funk Essential, Brand New Heaves, Jamiroquai and The Jacksons. His high impact dance routines are best avoided as these have been heavily influenced by routine house hold chores. Favorite lettuce variety is Little Gem, particularly with a spicy meat fest pizza, hmmm.

Glen – Trombone

Glen started playing trombone at the age of 7, had an illustrious career as a young musician in big bands and orchestras, then stopped playing when he discovered beer and rugby.

Twelve years later, the funk police found out his address, kicked his door down and made him listen to Brooklyn Funk Essential and the Brand New Heaves. The rest, as they say, is Goldrush history.

Brian – Saxophone

Brain, “the funky sax man” loves anything saxy and funky, but also cool and jazzy. His influences include, on the funky side, Sanborn, Candy Dulfer, Lenny Pickett, Parker (Maceo), Tom Scott & Brecker (with Steps Ahead) and jazzy, Cannonball Adderly, Kenny Garrett (not the “G” man), Candy Dulfer, Charlie Parker, Mick Brecker, Ernie Watts, Chris Potter and Kenny Garrent.

Pete – Drums and backing vocals

Pete has played professionally whiles under contract with RCA and has spent plenty of time in the studio doing session work. He loves funk, acid jazz and disco because as a drummer, it’s fun to play.

Influences include innovative drummer such as Stewart Copeland, Steve Gadd, Billy Cobham, and the mighty Dave Weckl.

Giuliano Quiqueto - Sound Engineer

SOUND AND LIGHTING

The sound system is a high quality Mackie rig, each speaker having it’s own built-in dedicated power amp. This gives a very punchy and clear sound, with great separation, which is vital for a big band. They use two SR1530 speakers with two SWA1501 subwoofer bins. This gives a potential, massive, 2200 watts (RMS) of funk vibe at front of house, large enough for most venues. The system can also be broken down and reconfigured for smaller venues.

Goldrush also use three distinct monitor loops (again using Mackie gear) to make sure that they can hear themselves and not make any mistakes! The whole band then go through a Behringer digital desk, compressors and a 31 channel stereo graphic equalizer to give the sound you know and love.

The band also uses it’s own lighting rig where necessary, which consists of eight 500 watt spots (4 colours) housed in a compact unit on two tripods. The whole thing is powered by a programmable light controller. Where appropriate they also use two small, four way light boxes to illuminate the dance floor so that you don’t trip up while executing your latest funky moves.

Other effects include smoke machine, haze machine and a strobe – funk ON!

Customer Feedback
Regular booking at Hamptworth Golf Club

Thank you for such a fantastic evening, I couldn’t stop dancing all night, the music was absolutely fabulous. The sound was just amazing, everyone commented on how well you all complemented each other and what a varied choice of songs you delivered. - Janet, Clubhouse Manager at the Hamptworth Golf Club, near Salisbury

Charity event at The Soul Cellar

"A top night was had by all at The Soul Cellar on Saturday. Thought the band were fantastic - have consequently put all of my funk and disco CD's in the car so that the traffic jams on the way home are a bit more enjoyable. Worryingly, my girlfriend wants to book the band for our wedding, which until Saturday night, I didn't know about! " - Kev

Wedding Reception at Private marquee

"I'm back from my honeymoon and I just want to thank you and the rest of Goldrush for an excellent performance. You really did make the night superb and everybody has said to me how excellent they thought you all were. I actually think you do Love Roller-coaster better than the original! Thanks again, and I hope you all had a good journey back." - Rob

Corporate Function at The Rose Bowl

"Goldrush - A short note to thank you for your fantastic performance at our recent annual conference. I've been to a number of these events over the years and you were, without a doubt, the best band to have played at any that I've attended. The band were superb, your choice of songs managed to include many people's favourite tracks and your lead singer led the whole thing beautifully. We will certainly look to use you again in the future. Thanks again for making a good evening into a great one". - Phil Willcock, Director of Healthcare - Distribution, Norwich Union Healthcare
